People’s House Behind Barricades

It’s been nearly a month since the inauguration – and yet barriers and continued heavy police presence surround the U.S. Capitol. Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson said the heavy law enforcement presence is to “send a signal” to Trump supporters that they are “dangerous” and “insurrectionists.” He recently told Fox News - “Obviously, leaders in Congress think walls and barriers work because they’ve surrounded the Capitol with them. Johnson said he’s been told the barriers will be in place at least until March. He is not happy about that. He said, “the Capitol is the people’s house. It shouldn’t be barricaded unless there are some real threats that I’m not aware of that they are not telling us about. I think we ought to take that fencing down and return to as normal position as possible. We agree! Keeping the Capitol behind fencing sends a signal that 74 million voters who voted for President Trump are dangerous to our democracy, they’re all insurrectionists, and that’s simply not the case.
