Which Mercedes Battery Do I Need To Replace?

If you own a Mercedes, how many batteries does it have? Some owners will only have to replace one Mercedes battery when its useful life is over; others find there’s an additional one to be taken into account. Why two, and how do you know which to replace?

Mercedes are luxury cars, meaning they offer great performance and many electrical add-ons to make your ride as smooth and comfortable as possible. Everything from all-wheel drive and refined suspension systems to top-notch infotainment options equates to a huge demand for power placed on the car. To cope with that, some models need not just one Mercedes battery, but two. In most models, the main battery kickstarts the engine and handles the car’s mechanical functions. It’s usually found in the car’s boot. The auxiliary one is often under the bonnet on the passenger side. Essentially, this one powers all other car functions once the engine’s running, from the start-stop system to the power locks, your stereo and more.

So if your car won’t start, you need a main Mercedes battery. If it starts, but some functions won’t work, you should replace the auxiliary one.
