Marchica (Little Sea - in Spanish) was named by the Spanish colonization of the region, it is a lake in northern Morocco adjacent to Nador. [1] This lake is of great environmental, economic and natural importance. It borders the cities of Nador and Bani Ansar and the village of Arkman in the Nador region in the Rif region. Lake Marchica covers an area of ​​120 sq km, its depth is between 0.5 to 7 meters, and its length is 24 km. Between it and the Mediterranean is the Boukana Peninsula, the same name for its maritime passage to the Mediterranean Sea.
