Changing from a carburetor to a fuel injection system means we are no longer regulating the fuel pressure to the carb. With the EFI system, the pump delivers full pressure to the fuel injection system and only excess pressure is relieved back to the fuel tank. Since the 68 was never designed to have a fuel return line back to the tank we are also installing a return line.

Along with these modifications we have to modify the tank to create a return line connection point. Since the fuel system on the 68 requires a much larger fuel delivery line we decided to install a fuel sump in the tank. The fuel sump ensures fuel is always available at the line connection and prevents fuel starvation. The old fuel pickup connection will be repurposed for the fuel return line connection.
