This is a collection of bears taken over the years. I had built a two level feeder for the dog and cat. The upper level was high enough the dog could not get to it but the cat could. Construction was adequate for the material I had, but was temporary as I had better plans. Not sure what but had good intensions. I even strapped a trash can nearby for food cans and other related trash. One evening as I was taking table scraps to the feeder, I came around the corner of the house and found a huge bear eating. I decided to get a trail camera to see what was going on. As bear sightings increased, I was also able to take some pictures as we watched from the deck. As it turned out, bears like dog food, table scraps, and pretty much everything easy to get. The feeder was not only temporary, but definitely not bear proof. As it turned out, the trash can straps were not adequate to keep the bears out so I screwed it to a tree raised above the ground just high enough I could reach in and retrieve the trash bag. Obviously not having given that much thought, a bear standing on its hind legs can easily be as tall or taller than me. I'm 6'. With that in mind, the trash can was easily ripped off the tree and now has air holes the size of bear claws and teeth. My precious dog and cat are no longer with us. I removed the feeder yet kept the trail camera. Occasionally, I would get a passing by bear, deer, fox, bobcat, or coyote. Needing something to feed, I started feeding a few deer. No one has been able to clearly define how much a few actually is, especially the deer. One bear has made a few appearances. I think he is becoming a regular. Must be the peanut butter. You can see him in my other videos. Maybe there will be more as spring comes and the wild blueberries and blackberries ripen. Of course, there is the free corn the deer gladly share.
