Cultivating a tender heart

In a meeting with leaders, instead of a teaching or another presentation of knowledge, I felt that it would be more lasting and more relevant to those present, to create an encounter with His Presence. Within minutes we were into the tender places of our hearts... we had broken through the 'crusty' layers and 'dusty' layers and were now into the vital rooms of the heart. And as happens in these kinds of times, there were plenty of tears for most of us.

Prov 4:23 addresses this: "Guard over your heart with all diligence for out of it flow all the issues of life." I think that by and large, we tend to make our brains 'king' and neglect the core parts of our being. We may be better served to host and facilitate something that I'd like to call: "Get Oil Conferences"... oil for our hearts, that is... like the 10 virgins and their lamps of oil… you get the idea, I’m sure.

If you've been dry, dusty or maybe crusty, you may find that your heart will soften and tenderize… and even have a fresh encounter with His Presence.
