How To Make Chilli Con Carne

Chili con carne, meaning 'chili with meat', is a spicy stew containing chili peppers, meat, and often tomatoes and beans. Other seasonings may include garlic, onions, and cumin. The dish originated in northern Mexico or southern Texas.

INGREDIENTS

1 kl. and 500g mince beef

2 large onions, peeled and diced

5 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed

1-2 tsp chilli powder/flakes to taste

1 tablespoon ground cumin

1 tablespoon coriander

1 tbsp dried oregano

1 teaspoon cayenne powder

2 cups of red wine or beef stock

2 tablespoons tomato puree

1 tablespoon brown sugar

2 bay leaves

3 x tins kidney beans or black beans

3 x tins plum tomato

Salt and pepper to taste

TO SERVE (SOME IDEAS):

Rice

Tortilla chips

Fresh coriander

Sour cream

Salsa

Gucamole
