Equivalencies of European and Japanese Swords

In this video I describe how the several types of Japanese and European swords equivalate to each other.

While you can split hairs over the plus or minus of 1 inch of length, swords do settle into broad but distinct categories of type, form, and use - completely irregardless of how you wear them.

Based on the shape of the hilt and blade, swords lend themselves to certain categories of use and usefulness, completely irregardless of where it comes from or what style of decor goes along with it.

The truths of what works in human warfare have always stayed steady, and as a result the broad and general categories of swords have also always existed between cultures. Only the advancement of technology has limited or made obsolete various types of weapons, but within the context of their own technological level, weapons do fall into repeating and predictable categories.
