The Sum of The Union's Powers-Federalist no. 41

In this paper, Madison lays out the powers to be vested in the Union. He supports his argument and compares the powers in the British Parliament as it relates to standing militaries. He highlights the need for military establishments especially a naval force to protect states on the sea border. Finally, Madison supplants is point for standing militaries, because the provision for defense doesn’t regulate opponents’ offensive strategery. Our defense is to be correlated to the offense of our political adversaries.
