The Fort Fairfield town council approved Resolution 21-02 at their January, 2021 council meeting in support of the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. The resolution expresses the council's opposition to any laws, federal or state, that would limit the right to keep and bear arms and also establishes the town as a sanctuary for those who wish to exercise those rights. The essence of a sanctuary is that the town will not enforce any unconstitutional executive orders by the president or firearms laws, from the state or federal level, that would either restrict, or confiscate firearms within the confines of the town of Fort Fairfield.
