Lion statue park Paris

The Lion de Belfort (French: Lion de Belfort) is a statue or sculpture of Frederick Bartholdi, who designed the Statue of Liberty located off the shores of New York City, USA. It is located in Belfort, in eastern France, near an opening separating the Vosges and the Jura Mountains.......It was completed in the year 1880 and made entirely of red sandstone. The lion embodies the courage and bravery of the city of Balfour and its people during the 103-day offensive by Prussia (from December 1870 to February 1871), as he protected the city and the population (only 17,000 people of whom 3,500 were military) led by Colonel Denfar Ruchru, who was urging this resistance from Approximately 40,000 invading Prussian soldiers.

A miniature bronze counterpart of the lion is found at Place Denfar-Rochereau in Paris as it appears to be watching Parisian traffic, as well as another replica in the Botanical Garden in Montreal, Canada.
