Bow Ties, My Attempt

Husband asked me to do something with some cracks on a piece of silver maple that he wants to make into a sofa bench. He mentioned bow ties and after thinking about what else I could do there I ended up just trying to do bow ties. I used black walnut to make the bow ties and also added a few small circles of walnut just to spice up the design a bit. The bow ties were less than desirable so I routered around them and placed black epoxy in the routered areas and the cracks. This defeated the purpose of the bow ties since the epoxy will keep the cracks from getting larger but oh well, I think they turned out pretty nice!Show more
