Norinco SKS Restoration with Monte Carlo Stock

Several years ago my grandparents lost their home to a fire. Very few things were salvageable and many things were simply irreplaceable. My grandad held on to this Norinco SKS that he, according to my grandmother, purchased while in Alaska during the late '60s/early '70s. After the fire, he recovered the SKS and kept it down in his shop, leaving it there to sit on the dirt floor to rust. Years later he later passed from lung cancer.

I asked my grandmother for permission to take the SKS so that I could attempt to clean and restore it. With her blessing and permission from my dad and mom, I took the SKS home to our shop and began the long process of cleaning. During this process, I learned how all of the parts fit together, their function and how the firing process worked. It was intimidating at first, but, patience is a virtue!

I present to you a functional rifle that once went through a complete loss home fire, had mud caked through the entire barrel, rusted open bolt, and ruined stock. I hope my grandad is proud of what I've done with it.
