Garage Sale Finds #1 - L2Survive with Thatnub

One of my hobbies, and a way I make extra cash, is going to auctions, garage sales and thrift stores. I buy stuff on the cheap then sell it for more. I have a booth in a local consignment shop, I sell on Craigslist, eBay and I have a garage sale about once a month (more in the summer).

I decided to make a weekly(ish) series to motivate you to spend one Saturday a month going to these places with the family to see what you can find. In this series, I will show you all of the prepping supplies I got for next to nothing or free. This is a great way for you to prep when cash is hard to come by. One of the things I learned from selling cars is that EVERYONE drives a used car. Buying used stuff is okay if you have a good wire brush and some soap.

Here are just a couple of tips I have from doing this for the last 15 years. Find a place locally that has monthly auctions. When I go to auctions, I don't buy the one shiny item that everyone wants. I wait until everything has been picked through then I buy the rest of the lot for $5 or $10. I usually get 10 to 30 boxes of stuff. I take what I want then have a garage sale to sell the rest. An easy way to have a garage sale is to put everything out then have a stack of boxes. Charge people $10 for a box and everything they can put in it is paid by that $10. No haggling or fuss. You make your $10 investment back with the first box sold and everything else is profit plus you have some prepping supplies. When you are done having the garage sale, put an ad on Craigslist that everything left in the driveway is free. By morning it will all be gone.

Thrift stores usually have a color of the day/week. Ask someone there if they have a calendar of their sales. At my local Goodwill, everything they have left on their color of the week is only $1.29 on Monday. If you want the good stuff, be there when they open.

Going to garage sales is a great way to get preps. It is rare that I spend more than $1 per item I want. If you have a few items that you want, save them all until you are ready to leave and ask the seller if they will take X amount for all of it. Bundling is a great way to save even more. Don't be afraid of walking away if you don't get the price you wanted. Some people will stop you and go with your price. If not, there are plenty of garage sales every week and there are always people who don't care what they get for an item.

If you have the time, send me a response video or leave a comment about what you got.

We have a mirror account on Odysee & Rumble just in case we get kicked off youtube.

Odysee is kind of like if YouTube and Bitcoin had a baby. They have only been out for about a year so there are fewer content creators. They do not censor content, for the most part, and even if you watch videos they will pay you in their cryptocurrency. They were able to move over all of my videos that were less than two hours long and the rest I will get up there at some point. If you set up an account with them please use my referral link: https://odysee.com/$/invite/@L2Survive:a

Rumble is more like YouTube with less censorship so a lot of content creators are moving over to that platform. They do not have the ability to move all of my content over in one shot so, I will be doing it manually. I have like 850 videos right now on YouTube. I thought it would be fun to start from the beginning and put up one video a day. If you have only been a subscriber for a year or so, you have missed a lot. If you do not have a Rumble account yet please use my link: https://rumble.com/register/L2Survive/

If you liked this video, leave a comment below, smash the "thumbs up" button, and hit the bell so you are notified when new videos come out. It really helps with the ranking so other people will see it.

If you like us and want to support the work we do then use this link https://amzn.to/36xT1aE when you shop on Amazon. It will not cost you any more and Amazon will send us a gift card at the end of the month to buy more things to help make these videos.
