Hearing the voice of God in 4 steps:
1. Believe He exists
2. Believe he cares about you enough to act, and has the authority to act.
3. Show reverence for God and work on your personal relationship. This is done with the most success by setting aside a daily prayer/study time which will help teach you to focus on Him. He will use that opportunity to speak, provided there isn't unrecognized sin in your life that established a wall between you both. This can be remedied with step 4.
4. Repentance, sin drives a wedge between God and His Children. Faith in Jesus Christ is the free gift of salvation that not only grants eternal life but the ability for us to approach the throne of God flawlessly (in Christ Jesus). We are saved by grace through faith. You do not need to know exactly how God works to enjoy the inheritance. Simply stated: Believe God loves you, apologize for misdeeds, turn away from those negative attitudes, emotions, and activities. Then trust that God sent His son so you would be able to have a positive, productive, personal relationship with Him.
