Chapter 4 from Dear Hearts and Gentle People and my 2 years of being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966-68 including my time at AFN (American Forces Network). I respect our military a lot more now than I did back then. Being a draftee, I didn't really like being in the Army. However, because of the great job I had being a radio announcer and because of a girl I met while serving in Bremerhaven, Germany, late 1967 and most of 1968 was the best time of my life.
