God Makes Promises to Bless Israel

This prophecy was given in the late 700's B.C. Jehovah is foretelling a deliverance that is still in the future to the nation Israel. He intervenes in the plans and activities of the Babylonians, and makes them who have captured the population of Judah to become fugitives themselves. Their own ships will be used by their conquers for the Babylonian's flight.
God is essentially saying that because of you, i.e., for your sake, I sent Cyrus the kings of Media to conquer Babylon. Then I brought down the Chaldeans in boats to Media. In other words, I sent Cyrus to Babylon, to destroy it and restore you to your land. This verse demonstrates God's great love for Israel as given in Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28 even when the nation's sins caused them to be punished. The word shelachti, I sent, implies that I, God Himself, went to Babylon along with the Judeans. For whenever the Jewish people go into exile, the Shechinah, God's Presence, goes with them.
