Childbirth in dogs is often easy and does not require human intervention. Your role in the birth process is to help only if necessary.

Approximately 40% of dogs are born on the hindquarters, meaning that the tail descends first. This position is completely normal. Don't worry.

If the fetus stops midway during childbirth, try to withdraw it softly, if it does not move easily, do not try to squeeze harder, call the vet immediately.

Each puppy descends separately, surrounded by its own placenta. Usually dogs clean the membranes surrounding puppies as soon as they descend, chew the umbilical cord, cut it, and sometimes eat it.

In some cases, do not do this, such as if the bitch is exhausted from birth, or inexperienced, and in young dogs as well.

If not, clean your hands well and wear medical gloves and then gently clean the membranes around the nose and mouth area, then the puppy will begin to breathe and move slowly to search for the mother's breast for feeding.
