    There is absolutely no guarantee a FMJ will not fragment or deform and there is definitely no guarantee a hollow point will expand. That is particularly so if the projectile drops below the proper velocity. IF your barrel is too short or your target is too far away before it makes impact. it MAY not deform.

    By your own admission,your point of aim was higher for the FMJ; so practicing with FMJ does not make your aim correct for JHP. This is why most say to practice with your carry ammo. Personally, I do not trust my aim beyond 7 yards - the length of my living room. If I aim low or high, the 3 inches is not going to be significant. The point of a JHP is to be certain the projective dumps all its energy into the target. I suspect a 158 grain .38 Special wadcutter at 900 ft/sec. deliver the same energy as your 115 grain 9mm JHP at 1055. Maybe you should show what happens if you snip the tip of a FMJ. Both the JHP and the FMJ have lead..
