TMN: s1e44 | TRANSIT - 2000 Metro Red Line Subway - Grand Opening of The North Hollywood Extension

Universal City CA | June 25, 2000 | 1515

For the first time ever, riders are able to board the Metro Red Line subway in Downtown Los Angeles and travel underground all the way to the San Fernando Valley in less than thirty minutes. The final six miles of subway line from Hollywood and Highland to North Hollywood, closes a physical and geographical gap between the Valley and the rest of the City of Los Angeles. The subway is responsible of bridging two areas of the city as both sections of the Cahuenga Pass would be closer.

These are scenes of grand opening weekend, Metro's latest and greatest accomplishment.
