My Rebuttal to Chuck Schumer's Argument

- What he read to begin with proved his whole argument wrong as he himself read; "judgement in cases of impeachment SHALL NOT EXTEND FURTHER than to removal from office... ". Well, Trump is out of office so nobody is getting removed thus this trial is unconstitutional.

- Common Sense is NOT EVIDENCE OR PRECEDENT FOR ANY PROCEEDINGS. Common Sense is subject to personal interpretation based on personal biases.

- He never gives the sources of the constitutional scholastic authorities he is referring to that allegedly debunked the power of the Senate to bring a person to a political trial who no longer holds public office. You can't just back up allegations with he said she said blanket statements. That's like me alleging I have the power to do something just because someone told me I could without saying who gave me the authority.

- The framers of the constitution included the disqualification of said impeached person from running for office again after a successful impeachment verdict from office. The fact that Schumer said that the ending of a sentence of a provision is an additional provision itself is simply wrong. A provision is one within itself until it closes and another provision begins. This is also basic English grammar. A page can have multiple paragraphs, but a paragraph does not contain paragraphs within itself alongside different meanings.

- In 1876 the House tried a secretary of war, NOT A PRESIDENT. The attempted Impeachment of William Belknap failed in the Senate and he was acquitted too. He kept practicing law afterwards. These are two different cases. Furthermore, the word 'notwithstanding' means that the House of Representatives did not accept his resignation. They accepted Trump leaving office so using this case as an example proves their impeachment trial of a person that no longer holds office is wrong. In my observation I could see that even Chuck Schumer slowed down as he read it, as if he knew what he was reading was proving his own argument incorrect.
