The Algerian city of Wadi Souf

The wilaya of El-Oued, or the wilaya of Oued Souf, is an Algerian state that emerged from the administrative division of 1984. It is divided into two regions with different ethnic origins: the Oued Souf region and the Wadi Rig region, the state capital is the city of the valley.

Among its most important personalities is Sheikh Muhammad Al-Adwani, the first who lived in Wadi Souf in an area called Al-Lujah previously and Al-Zaqam today. Among the modern figures of this region are Sheikh Muhammad Al-Amin Al-Amoudi, Professor and Historian Dr. Abu Al-Qasim Saad Allah and Sheikh Al-Taher Talili.

The state of El-Oued is located in the northeast of the Algerian Sahara, 630 km from the country's capital, and is bordered on the east by the Republic of Tunisia, and on the west by all of the states of Mughayir and Iqraat, and on the north by the states of Tebessa, Khenchela and Biskra, and from the south by the wilaya of Ouargla.

This state is famous for the production of dates, especially the type of Deglet Nour and Al-Rutb or the so-called Mogar. Olives and potatoes are also a successful experiment in diversifying the region's high-quality agricultural crops.
