After a gestation period of 13 months, the camel gives birth to a baby camel, also called a camel, which weighs on average 36kg for a height at the withers of around 90 cm. After birth, the camel only needs a few hours to stand up and begin to follow its mother who will nurse it for a year and a half. It is not until puberty that the male camel begins to stand aside, thus joining a herd of bachelors. Conversely, the female will remain in her mother's herd.
