與堅尼地城站為首兩個以四個中文字命名的車站。
香港大學站A2出口至大堂的垂直距離深入地底100米，
是香港最深及最大的洞穴車站。
車站色系是淺綠色，1個島式月台。
有13條扶手電梯，2條自動行人道。
A出入口通道有長約80米的香港大學百年壁，
大堂西面牆身為社區畫廊。2014年12月28日啟用。

With Kennedy Town Station, it is the first two stations named after four Chinese characters.
The vertical distance from Exit A2 of HKU Station to the lobby is 100 meters deep underground.
It is the deepest and largest cave station in Hong Kong.
The color of the station is light green, with an island platform.
There are 13 escalators and 2 moving walkways.
Exit A has the Centennial Wall of the HKU about 80 meters long.
The west wall of the lobby is a community gallery. It was opened on December 28, 2014.
