Allelulia Allelulia †🕊†
Song: Dan Gibson, Gradual and Allelulia
Movie: Passion of the Christ
Tecum principium in die virtutis tuae in splendoribus sanctorum:
ex utero, ante luciferum, genui te.
dixit Dominus Domino meo: sede a dextris meis,
donec ponam inimicos tuos scabellum pedum tuorum.
alleluia! alleluia!
Dominus dixit ad me: filius meus es tu;
Ego hodie genui te.
alleluia! alleluia!
Salvos fac nos, Domine, Deus noster, et congrega nos de nationibus:
Ut confiteamur nomini sancto tuo, et gloriemur in gloria tua.
Tu, Domine, Pater noster, et Redemptor noster: a saeculo nomen tuum.
alleluia! alleluia!
laudem Domini loquetur os meum,
et benedicat omnis caro nomen sanctum eius.
Tecum principium in die virtutis tuae in splendoribus sanctorum:
ex utero, ante luciferum, genui te.
dixit Dominus Domino meo: sede a dextris meis,
donec ponam inimicos tuos scabellum pedum tuorum.
alleluia! alleluia!
Translation:
With Thee is the Principality in the day of Thy strength: In the brightness of the Saints: From the womb before the day star I begot Thee. The Lord will send forth the sceptre of Thy power out of Sion: Rule Thou in the midst of Thy enemies. The Lord said unto me, “Thou art my Son; today I have begotten Thee.” Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the nations: That we may give thanks to Thy holy Name, and may glory in Thy praise. Thou, O Lord, our Father and our Redeemer: From everlasting is Thy Name. My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and let all flesh bless His holy Name. With Thee is the Principality in the day of Thy strength: In the brightness of the Saints: From the womb before the day star I begot Thee. The Lord will send forth the Sceptre of Thy power out of Sion: Rule Thou in the midst of Thy enemies.
~ The phrase ‘ante luciferum’ has a level of meaning whereby it refers to Lucifer, the devil. The meaning here is that God’s only Son was begotten in eternity, before the Angels were created, before the Angels fell from grace, before Lucifer (the light-bearer) became Satan (the adversary). The phrase ‘ex utero’ does not mean ‘from the womb,’ but has more of the meaning of ‘from conception.’ The word ‘utero’ is often used in Latin to refer to the generative capability (the ability to bring about conception) of men and women. In this case, it refers to the generative capability of the Father to give rise to the Son by procession.
