Changing the Way the World Views Down Syndrome

The pandemic has caused many children to go without normalcy in their everyday lives. Education, social interactions and even trips to their grandmas house have halted in the effort to halt the spread of the virus. GiGi's Playhouse is no exception to the changes, however, they were quickly able to adapt and provide their crucial services via online platforms. GiGi's Playhouse's national initiative, GiGi’s at Home, which provides both live and on-demand offerings of their signature programs, included several local programs in a virtual platform by early April – Fantastic Friends, Book Club, GiGi’s Kitchen and more. These adult and teen programs provide invaluable engagement for participants to interact with friends and add some normalcy to a very bleak time. Sue Pelikan Board President and Chris VandenHouten Outreach Committee Chair are here to explain how they are changing the way the world views Down Syndrome and what they are doing to keep the GiGi's Playhouse mission thriving throughout the pandemic.
