Paul Revere and the Raiders 'Judge GTO Breakaway' was released on the 1990 album "The Legend of Paul Revere." It originally was a short jingle for a television spot advertising Pontiac's new performance package for the 1969 GTO called "The Judge", a name taken from a catch phrase that frequently appeared on the late 1960's comedy skit program "Laugh In". This song was based on the track "Time After Time", written by Keith Allison and Mark Lindsay, a song off the Raiders album "Hard 'N' Heavy." Both songs were written in September of 1968. According to legend, someone who really dug the jingle suggested to Allison and Lindsay that it'd make a great full length song, so they rerecorded it and released on the aforementioned album in 1990.
