The Cutest Thing Evah! ^_^ Baby Prairie Dawg!

Look at this adorable little baby Prairie Dog! She's not very old, but unlike her siblings and others of the colony who run away and hide like they're supposed to, she wants to be friends instead! However, she was just too friendly. This was dangerous for her as a wild animal. These Prairie Dogs (you could call them Prairie Squirrels, because they are ground squirrels) were living in a local park in between the parking lot and the playground. Because I didn't want anyone to hurt her or steal her from her mom, I spent the next week coming here daily to condition her so that she would run to her den to hide when she was approached. She eventually learned to run and hide, but she would always peek out at me to say "Hi", because she knew who I was. ^_^

At the time, I was advocating to save this colony from extermination by the city of Wichita Falls, and eventually forced the city to abandon their extermination plans and to contract a trapper to relocate them instead.
