On the Gulf of Mexico
Lies a little town that I call home
And no matter where I go it's not too far
Pascagoula Mississippi
It's the Singing River City
And her song I carry with me in my heart
I still hear the blues refrain
Of the shipyard whistle and the downtown train
Sweet taste of freedom, like sugarcane, I knew back then
Moon pies and Mardi Gras parades
Shrimp poboys from the Castaway
The good old days, Pascagoula, remember when
Selling coke bottles at Wayne Lee's
Irwin's Bakery, Book 'N Things
Bowling alley, Hollis Skating Rink, and the Pixie Pet Shop
Brumfield's, Gibson's, Kress's, White's
Ben Franklin's and McClellan's Five and Dimes
Ritz Theater, such good times, Putt-Putt and Fun Spot
I was raised on Panther Pride
Cruising on a Friday night
When all my friends and I would make the scene
Edd's Drive-In, the Tastee Freeze
Market Street down to the beach
To the Point racing submarines, remember when
Beach Park swings, giant slides
Barq's Rootbeer and rocket rides
Fourth of July and fireworks shooting from the pier
And the sea went on forever
No place happier or better
All those memories have never disappeared
Aftermaths of hurricanes
Picking up the pieces, starting again
Neighbors and strangers just the same, we all pitched in
Like the "bread eaters" here of old
We broke bread amidst debris and oaks
And kept on going Pascagoula, remember when
Mrs. Farmers, the Rec Center
Church and Mama's Sunday dinners
Greenwood Island, times I went there with my Dad
Tony's Pizza, The Lafont
Thunder's and Annex Restaurant
Superburger, all the fun that we had
Old Spanish Fort, Longfellow House
Bozo's seafood, hush my mouth
Old Ice House or just hanging out at the Lake Drive In
County Fair, Palace cherry cokes
Bargain Annex, Frostop floats
The berserk squirrel and a UFO, remember when
