As we begin Romans Chapter 2, I felt it was important to explain the unique dynamics that Paul was dealing with when he wrote the letter.

Paul was writing to two (2) unique groups of people in Rome who had both untied into one group, the church. In the church, there are people from all walks of life. In Rome, Paul was writing to people from either a Jewish or Greek heritage. Each of these groups having unique backgrounds and is becoming one people in the new emerging Kingdom of Christ.

The Jews had the oracles of God to lead them in what is right and wrong, while the Greeks knew God's judgment from legends about the great flood and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. They worshipped mutliple gods and didn't have the true word of God.

In this lesson I go into the distinctions between the Jew, the Greek, and the Gentile. Each of these people groups have unique characteristics that need to be understood as we read this book.

I also unpack the prophecy of Daniel 2, when Daniel interprets the king of Babylon, King Nebuchadnezzar's dream. This dream is so often misinterpreted today and having clarity regarding the dream is super important to a correct understanding of the word of God.

Knowing that the church in Rome, was in its infancy and needed spiritual nourishment from the Apostle Paul, helps us to better understand the intricacies of the book to the Romans.

Next week we'll discuss chapter 2 in more detail
