蘆葦草生長於沼澤，河邊和海灘等濕地的植物。
遍布全世界溫帶和熱帶，蘆葦屬植物大約有10種。
蘆葦花是圓錐花序，花穗長10-40厘米，
每個小穗有4-7朵小花，屬風媒花。
花剛開時帶有些綠色，之後花穗轉為黃褐色。
在香港元朗南生圍，有很多蘆葦，非常茂盛。
在港島郊野公園看到的蘆葦。
蘆葦不是令人驚艷的植物，但很好看。
