Frosty enters Chow Chow Rescue Society

Welcome Frosty to CCRS- we need your help!
Frosty is one of the chows abandoned by a breeder in the Midwest. Thankfully ,National Mill Dog Rescue was able to get the chows safe. Once the chows were safe NMDR asked chow rescues if they could take some of them. Of course we wanted to help! But we also need your HELP. These chows need spays, neuters , entropion and some have heartworm or tick born illnesses.We’ve already gotten a few chows into our rescue and we need to start vetting appointments. We need help in covering transport costs, extra supplies to our foster homes and upcoming surgeries. Frosty is a sweet female estimated to be between 2-5 yrs old. She is heartworm positive and has started her treatment. She will need entropion surgery and a spay when the vet feels it’s safe with her heartworm. She is underweight as you can see in the photos and was likely bred. Her hair is VERY thin and her hip bones stick out. These chows were exposed to a harsh outdoor environment and at times they went hungry because it was survival of the fittest getting any kibble when food was brought. They were not kenneled and given their own separate food and water. We will start featuring these chows on our page in the coming days and weeks as we learn more about each of them.
So far Frosty has had a much needed bath and she is showing to be a timid girl. All of these chows will be learning what it’s like to live inside a home and be a part of a family with good regular nutritious meals.
