Biden Sworn In 12 Minutes Early, 3471

Good evening, I’m still reporting on Biden.

President Joe Biden was inaugurated early which means when he started his inauguration speech, he wasn’t actually president yet.
The bad news is that by the end of the speech he was.
According to the 20th Amendment to the US Constitution, “The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January…”
Donald J. Trump was president until noon and Joe Biden was sworn in by Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court John Roberts at 11:48.
Even though he was sworn in, Biden was not at that moment president because Trump’s term had not ended.
When he was introduced by Sen. Amy Kobachar she in fact did not have the honor of being the first to introduce President Joe Biden, because he didn’t become president, regardless of when he took the oath, until 12:00:01.
When Roberts and Barack Obama messed up the Oath in 2008, they went back and privately swore Obama in again because the Constitution is precise in the wording of the Presidential Oath of office and they had gotten it wrong.
Was it necessary for Obama to be sworn in as president correctly? The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court believed it was.
So what does it mean that Biden, took the oath when he was ineligible to become president because the country at that time already had a president? Because it is Biden, it will almost certainly amount to nothing, but it is interesting that they didn’t wait ten minutes until Biden could become president when he took the oath.
Reportedly, there is a reason for the rush to oath taking. Democrats were sincerely worried that Trump forces might, at the last minute, have swooped in and arrested the entire lot of these closest to the proceedings, before the Biden could say, “I do.”
Imagine the outcry from the liberal media, if Trump had taken his oath early.
Didn’t they have another singer in the wings who could step up to the microphone and belt out a song, or a national historian who could have given an off the cuff 12 minute speech on the history of inaugurations or something.
And if you were looking for little snafus during the inauguration, hoping to at least get a giggle out of a dour occasion, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor mispronouncing the name of Vice President Kamala Harris was a hoot.
When conservatives had mispronounced Kamala during the campaign they were branded as racists for not pronouncing a black woman’s name the way that woman pronounces it.
But evidently Sotomayor gets a pass, although with all the controversy over the pronunciation of Kamala, you would think she would have practiced a few times.
Other than that, and the great rendition of the National Anthem my Lady GaGa – whoever she is - and the early oath, there wasn't much entertainment. Former President Bill Clinton had the appropriate response to Biden’s speech, he slept through it. The one plus about that speech was that it was short.
Biden called for unity, but he certainly gave the 74 million Trump voters in the country little reason to unite and he gave his supporters little reason to unite with Trump voters who he implied were white supremacists and domestic terrorists. There was no love for Trump or his supporters in the speech.
If Biden were actually interested in unity, he could have picked out a few things that Trump did that he supported and mentioned he was going to continue those programs. He could have easily talked about the success of Operation Warp Speed and then talked about how now he was going to get that vaccine to the people.
There were a lot of directions Biden could have gone, but he actually didn’t go in any of them. The speech sounded like Biden had told his speech writers to give him 20 minutes worth of words. They did and unfortunately for the nation somewhere during that speech Biden became president of the United States.
God Bless America and God Help America.
