Perdicaris Park stretches over about 70 hectares of forest between sea and mountain. Also called Rmilat Forest, it has a privileged natural and cultural richness. Formerly owned by an American diplomat, the park is now owned by the Moroccan state responsible for the maintenance and restoration of this unique natural space.

A strong identity and a unique history
Perdicaris Park is named after an American diplomat of Greek descent, Ion Perdicaris. He bought the property in 1872 to house with his wife. He built a villa on the property in order to live comfortably and enjoy the natural park to the fullest. The couple's fate changed in 1924 when Ion Perdicaris was abducted by Ahmed Raïssouni. The latter demanded a ransom against the release of the American diplomat. After various negotiations, Ion Perdicaris was released. This painful experience convinces him to leave Tangier in order to join America with his wife. The park is now in the public domain, on which maintenance and renovation depend.
