Vietnam: Monkey Mountain 2019

Monkey mountain is a nature preserve that is a truly wonderful place to visit. There are wild monkeys. The red shanked douc langers are among the rarest species in the world. We happened to stop by on a rainy day which subdued things quite a bit, but we did get to see monkey, and a red dachshund playing with them. There is also a Giant 100 ft. tall female Buddha statue that can be seen from the city.
The gardens with Bonsai trees and statues made of Marble were wonderful to see, the craftsmanship was exquisite. Monkey mountain, or Son Tra Mountain should definitely be on your short list if you make it anywhere near Da Nang. Stop here, and a quick trip to Marble Mountain will be a great and fulfilling day in Vietnam.
We didn’t make it to Da Nang city for any sightseeing, or the beach. We took a bus tour group and Da Nang was just a 1 day stop over. We wanted to see all we could see in a short time to pick where we want to go back and visit longer on the next trip. It was a great idea, and a terrible ide both at the same time. We saw a great deal, but just enough to when your appetite, not really enough time to get a true feel for any one place. Tour groups are probably great for some people, but I’ve never felt so constrained time wise as I did on this trip. Still we saw things I never would have normally went to go see. For that I am still grateful we tried it.
