Painting Quick Landscape Studies EN PLEIN AIR
I paint outdoors a lot, not only because I love being outside but it’s also an important part of my painting process. Plein air painting is a way of gathering information from the scene that I painting which I can then take back to the studio. I frequently use plein air studies as reference for larger art works.
In this video I take you on another one of my plein air painting trips where I wanted to capture the evening light. I had to work quickly as the light was disappearing fast but I anticipated that I wouldn’t have long to paint so I worked on small 6” x 8” panels. This plein air painting trip was an information gathering exercise.
