In the pulp atmosphere of Los Angeles, California, in the mid to late 1940s, a murder case surfaced that transcended crime history. A young girl, hoping to get her big break in the movies and become a star, threw herself at men to support herself. Once her death had been discovered, the media at that time portrayed Elizabeth Short as a wayward girl who sought fame and fortune. Later, she became known as a woman who utilized her wiles to get what she wanted. No matter the facts as they were presented, her death was gruesome and resembled another elusive killer from the Midwest.
