Nimitz Lake Dam at Kerrville Texas

This dam on the Guadalupe River was built in 1980 to create the reservoir for providing a water supply for Kerrville, Texas. It was originally named "UGRA Lake," but was renamed by the Kerrville city council in 2011, to honor of the late Navy Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz (1885-1966), a Fredericksburg native. During World War II, he commanded the Pacific Fleet, and also led Allied air, land and sea forces in the Pacific theater of combat.

The Guadalupe River flows into the lake, and then downstream thru Kerrville, but when I was there today, drought conditions made the lake and river rather stagnant. However, I'll bet it is a sight to see after severe thunderstorms have passed thru the area.

I do take requests from folks that want to see different types of aerial photography / videos from areas they might not be able to access from the ground. I am a commercial Part 107 drone pilot.
