The Hidden Face of God

The shining of God's face upon His people is a metaphor of His favor, blessing, and protection. However, when God's people persist in sin then they often suffer numerous negative circumstances such as sickness, defeat, and poverty. In Scripture God is often credited as inflicting it but the underlying principle taught in the Bible is that God does the "inflicting" by HIDING HIS FACE. The hiding of God's face is the removal of that favor, blessing and protection that He once bestowed, thus permitting people to suffer the forces of darkness.
