Native American (Diné) Story of the Beginning.
Our Diné share stories about the origin of life in the winter time. Generally they are called “Winter Stories”.
Our Diné share these to teach and remember where we come from and who we are.
But, there is a problem. One story covers the progression from the first world. The other story teaches about the travels of our Diné.
These two stories get confused and meshed into one.
Navajo Historian, Wally Brow, teaches about the two stories and how they get confused. Wally recalls sitting at the feet of the elders, sometimes near 100 years old when he was just a child. During these stories the old people would teach that currently our Diné reside in the Third World.
Today many say we are in the Fourth World and beyond. But it is important to hear it from multiple sources.
