Bophuthatswana (Tswana: Riphaboliki ya Bophuthatswana; Afrikaans: Republiek van Bophuthatswana), was a Bantustan that was declared independent by the apartheid regime of South Africa in 1977. However, its independence, was not recognized by any country other than South Africa.
