20210111 Family - The Daily Summation

"Blood is thicker than water." I think anybody with a little time under their belt has heard that expression.

That may be so, but I promise I count some people who have no connection to me in any biological way, to be more family, than many folks I'm genetically related to.

I don't think I'm anything like alone in that.

I love my mother. I love my relatively long-departed dad. I appreciate all they did to raise me.

But as I say in this edition of The Daily Summation from Kurt's Religion and Politics, there's a lady I consider to be my "second mother," and who my son calls grandma, who has done as good a job of being his grandmother, than just about anyone I can mention.

Simply put, blood may indeed be thicker than water, but family isn't really mostly about blood. Rather it's about people for whom you care, and that you care for, and who are willing to do likewise for you.
