Gethsemane Photography

A little presentation on my work Gethsemane explaining the symbolism behind the image, the color red representing the blood of Christ, the clear image order and the out of focus part, chaos, the two lights below personifying multiple characters as well as the meaning of the trees behind .

Gethsemane was the garden in which Jesus was betrayed, shown here in a modern photographic representation.
A still, clear image of an icon of Jesus, representing order situated in the center of a fuzzy chaotic photo to symbolize the turbulent time which is about to unfold.
The icon is pinned onto a tree which signifies the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden but also the Cross on which he was crucified as well as the Olive Tree under which Jesus sat in the Gethsemane Garden.
The two lights below personify Mary, the Mother of Jesus and Mary Magdalene who were present at the time of his crucifixion but also God and the Holy Ghost as well as Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
Although a digital photograph, the image has had no photoshopped effects added in post but rather came into being gradually while shot on location by using a slow shutter speed on a stormy night. Thus giving it a surrealistic feel in order to place the viewer in a mystical world which to my mind resembled the actual Gethsemane Garden and to also offer the audience quick glimpses into the Garden of Eden at the moment of The Fall".
