As a young man growing up during the civil rights movement, Steve Skipper had abandoned his dream of becoming an artist and was headed down a path of destruction. After robbing a home, Steve was celebrating and doing drugs with his fellow Crips gang members, when a man approached Steve and his gang with a message: God has a plan for your life, He has given you a gift, and you can use this gift to glorify God. Steve was shaken and soon found himself sitting in the back pew of a church when the pastor began to speak directly to Steve with that same message of hope. Steve then untied the gang colors from around his wrists, dropped them to the floor, and surrendered his life to Christ. Steve Skipper went on to pursue his artistic career and become one of the most prolific sports and civil rights painters in the country. Author Don Keith tells this story in his book and the newly released documentary "Colors of Character: An Artist's Journey to Redemption." Don't miss this inspiring and uplifting episode of Rick & Bubba University.
