20210103 More on COVID-19 - The Daily Summation

In all that's happened since February of 2020, my attitude regarding COVID-19 has changed very little.

There was a small period when the overall effect was little known at best. After that time, things began to be relatively obvious.

Considering that the American Cancer Society says in this article https://www.webmd.com/cancer/how-many-cancer-deaths-per-year#1 , that around 600,000 people of cancer in the U.S. on a yearly basis, the figures for COVID-19 are not great, but they're only half as bad as the statistics for cancer deaths.

I say on every video of this type, that nobody is desirous to see any other human being die if they're reasonable (I hope I can count myself there). You can count I feel the same way as I talk on this subject.

Cancer will happen every year. We're just beginning to deal with it in anything like a reasonable way. COVID-19 will be lucky to stick around in any meaningful way for more than a couple of years--vaccine or no.

That means that in just ten years, we'll likely have ten or more times the number of deaths from the current COVID-19 crisis.

I talk about the idea of COVID-19 mortality rates and more in this edition of The Daily Summation, from Kurt's Religion and Politics.
