Pursuit that Started in San Jacinto County Ends in Livingston, LIVINGSTON, January 3, 2021 - At approximately 12:25 pm on January 3, 2021, a State Trooper from San Jacinto County radioed to Polk County Dispatch that he was in pursuit of red Lincoln Navigator that was about to cross into Polk County (via the Trinity River Bridge on US-59). The pursuit did indeed enter into Polk County and continued through Livingston. Officers with Livingston Police Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers from Polk County joined in as the pursuit ended just north of Downtown Livingston (near the radio station). The driver of the Navigator, Alex Lazel Martinez, 22, of Cypress was apprehended by Officer Scott Paske with Livingston Police Department and Deputy Kade Burman with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Martinez was vocally clear that he was willing to kill himself. Martinez also had a dog, (Saint Bernard) that he was worried about. Martinez stated that "if my dog is not there for me when I get out of jail, I will kill myself". The dog was carefully removed from the vehicle by Animal Control Officer, Missy Murray and will be kept safely and well taken care of and returned to Martinez when he gets out of jail. Martinez is likely facing a list of charges. His vehicle was recovered by a wrecker out of San Jacinto County.
