The tiger is one of the species of the feline family and the smallest of the four large felines belonging to the genus of tigers (Latin: Panthera). The tiger, lion, and jaguar are all larger in size. Tigers today are spread almost mainly in sub-Saharan Africa, and some areas in southern and eastern Asia, where they have fragmented populations in Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, and southern Arabia, after their habitat in the past included all countries extending from The Korean Peninsula up to South Africa, meaning the regions of East, South, Central, Middle East, Turkey, and all parts of Africa. The reason for the rapid decline of the tiger population is due to hunting and loss of habitat as a result of frequent urbanization in its often densely populated habitats. The tiger is classified by the International Union for Conservation of Nature as close to the threat of extinction due to the aforementioned dangers, however, it is still more numerous than the rest of the tiger species of feline species, which all face greater risks than those faced by tigers.
