1948 Zenith CobraMatic plays Sir Harry Lauder I Love to be a Sailor 1909

This 12-inch, 78 rpm disk features Scotland’s hottest international performer circa 1909, Sir Harry Lauder, singing a rousing rendition of ‘I Love to be a Sailor” on the A-side. It’s an interesting mixture of singing at the beginning followed by 1909-era Vaudeville humor about sailors and then singing to wrap it up. Do you agree with Sir Harry that it’s better to have a wife in every port than to have all of them in just one port? I've only been able to find information online about this performance indicating it was released as a single-sided pressing, but on the B-side of this record Sir Harry belts out ‘We Parted on the Shore.’ Be sure to check it out at https://rumble.com/vcedi3-1948-zenith-cobramatic-plays-we-parted-on-the-shore.html

At the end of the record, you'll notice that the auto-changer doesn't lift the tone arm and shut down the player. That's because the groove ends with the recording instead of circling in to the center of the disk, which triggers the auto-change mechanism. Instead, I have to cycle it manually.

Anyway, please subscribe! Thanks!
