Don't bury my bones in Egypt

I have heard countless times people who are looking forward to this new year with the expectation of radically improved conditions; social, financial, political, health, the end of Covid, with its worthless lockdowns and masks. Those are all good things to look forward to. But at what cost?

In the waning chapters of Genesis there are two events that strike me as being significant in the face of our present day world.
2020 has been a rough year for us all. Many of us lost jobs. Some lost loved ones. At Tree of Life we lost the ability to meet together. Do we look at 2021 as a new start, a recovery of lost things? What makes December 31 a disaster, but January first a panacea? Nothing. I’m not much into predicting, but I predict that we will see much more oppression of the body of Messiah than what we experienced in 2020. The administration that is poised to rush into power has already signaled that all restrictions on abortion will be removed and massive funding for Planned Parenthood is in the works. God cannot bless our nation if that is where we are headed.

Governors throughout the nation are opening up bars and adult entertainment venues but are further restricting religious gatherings. Just be ready for it.

Israel had had a good life until Joseph died. Then, little by little rights were taken away, property stolen and even the murder of innocent boys. This was not where God wanted Israel to stay. It is not where God wants us to stay. We will have to endure hardships as we hold fast to our belief in God. But He wants us to return to Him. I want you to look back at our Brit Chadashah reading.
But today I see a trend to go away from the truths of God and His Word and start relying on the propaganda spewed out by the government and their so-called doctors. Doctors who haven’t treated a patient in forty years. If the internet says it, then it must be true right? And goodness knows that those paragons of virtue and wisdom in Hollywood know what is best for all of us, right?

Do I sound a bit cynical? That’s because I’m trying to be nice and not be a whole lot cynical. We as the Body of Messiah, His hands, His feet his mouthpiece on earth cannot succumb to the pressures of a godless government, a press bereft of any scintilla of truth or the immoral musings of Hollywood. We have to bring the bones back to the Promised Land. We have to weigh everything we see and hear against God’s word.
