The Jesus Prophecy in the Fall of Man (salvation pictured)

Genesis 3 tells of the fall of Adam and Eve. In this story, God declares a prophecy about Christ, but then he does something that is both a visible foreshadow of Jesus and a picture of salvation. I look at this act in the context of Adam and Eve's sin and highlight how it is both a prophecy of Jesus and a picture of salvation.

I begin looking at the larger text: Genesis 3:6-13, 20-24. Next, I highlight important images in God's action. Finally, I look at both the prophecy and the picture.

You will discover that the animal's blood being shed to cover Adam and Eve in their iniquity is a foreshadow--a prophecy--of Jesus shedding his blood to cover people in their sin. You'll also see how God taking the initiative to cover Adam and Eve pictures salvation in that God took the initiative to forgive sinners and cover them with Jesus.
